These are starting points, not gospel. Filament settings shift with your printer, nozzle size, slicer and ambient temperature. Print a temperature tower on each new spool and adjust. The numbers above are Prusament's own published recommendations.

Notes

Nozzle 210 ± 10 °C, heatbed 40–60 °C, up to 200 mm/s with 100% fan, on smooth/satin/powder-coated PEI. Lot-specific values are on the spool's QR report.

Prusament PLA does not specify a drying step on its TDS; keep sealed and dry.

About PLA

The default beginner filament: prints cool, almost no warping, no enclosure needed. Plant-derived. Great detail and easy bed adhesion; the trade-off is low heat resistance (parts soften around 50–60 °C) and brittleness under sustained load — keep finished PLA parts out of hot cars and direct sun.

  • Indoor display pieces
  • Anything where heat resistance does not matter
Avoid for
  • Car interiors / outdoor sun exposure
  • Functional parts under sustained load or heat

What temperature should I print Prusament PLA at?

Prusament recommends a nozzle temperature of 200–220 °C and a bed of 40–60 °C. A good starting point is about 215 °C nozzle / 50 °C bed; tune with a temperature tower. Source: Prusament (2026-06-10).

Does Prusament PLA need an enclosure?

No. Prusament PLA prints fine on an open-frame printer.
